Watch Out
I asked Reagan if she wanted to drive the pink car the other day while Sydney was at a friend’s house. Ok! I wasn’t sure how this would go. Reagan is usually the quiet passenger for Sydney’s crazy rides. However, moments later this 3 year old goes whizzing past me. No low gear for her. All over the street and down the block. The kid has a knack for driving!

Time For School
Reagan took another step up the big girl ladder this week as she started pre-school! It is the same place she went last year for Mom’s Day Out so she is familiar with the place. She was very excited to go to school and get new teachers. However, upon arriving some of the other kids had lots of anxiety about being dropped off so the room was a bit crazy. Reagan kept telling Kim that she was going to go home with her. She wasn’t digging it. Kim ended up distracting her and running for the door. Upon returning, Reagan was so excited and had a blast. She can’t wait for her next day!

Flower Girl
Someone was chosen to be the flower girl in a wedding next year!
Oh, god. She is drunk again. You weren’t supposed to see that. Keep her away from the punch!

Jenga Prodigy
Instead of some boring puzzle, Grandpa Fuller pulls out Jenga. Surely, this will stump a 3 year old. Uh, nope! Reagan jumped right in mimicking Grandpa’s moves. Tapping pieces. Looking for loose corners. When it got a little sketchy, there was the occasional arm on top. However, when the Jenga came crashing down, it was a more of a celebration for Reagan. That was cool! Play again?

Turtle Races
As kids, we went to the lake each weekend. One of the usual activities was turtle hunting. This involved my Dad driving us in the fishing boat back in a channel very quietly. Then we would shut off the motor and watch for turtles to start sunning themselves. Once we spotted a good set and they were under our spell, my Dad would start up the fishing boat and we would cast our big 10’ pole with net on the end and literally ram the shore with the boat! Most of the time we ended up with a net full of turtles.
So on our summer visit to Indiana, we went back up to the lake and decided to catch a few turtles. We don’t have the old fishing boat so some catching from shore was the only solution. I had lost my touch and gave up. But some relatives that were more up to date in their turtle skills helped us out and we got two little guys!
With the Olympics starting that day, we decided to have a competition of our own. Turtle Races!
We setup a posh Olympic Village for the competitors so they had a place to hang.
Here is Reagan taking a photo with the big winner!
In the end, the turtles were released back into the wild to live freely or be caught again another day!

Life On The Lake
We made an extended stop at the lake while visiting Indiana this summer. I spent about all my childhood summer weekends there so it is fun to bring my own kids there to do some of the same stuff I did as a kid. First off — let’s get a boat ride in!
My Dad taught me to drive a boat at a young age — well, probably not this young — so let’s see how she does!
Well, these boats ended up being more of Reagan’s speed.
Are we having fun yet?
I am not exactly sure how this came about but the ride in the box in the wagon was a big hit!

Red Eye Traveler
Q: What do you get when Mom (mistakenly) books a red eye flight for a 3 year old?
A: An extra piece of curbside baggage at the airport.
Museum
While Sydney was at zoo camp this week, Mom had to burn sometime downtown instead of driving back home. Perfect time to take Reagan around to some of the attractions. They went to the zoo on the first day and then decided it was much too hot to be outside for the rest of the week.
The next day they went to the museum. Reagan was really excited about getting to see the dinosaurs! Let’s dig up some bones!
Those didn’t seem scary. Let’s see some scary bones! Those guys don’t look very big.
Ok, he is HUGE! That was the Reagan’s new word of the day.
How about something else? Bubbles anyone?
Finally, they went to a room where you had to assemble animals. All the “normal” kids were building them properly. Our kid decided that genetic mutations were in vogue.
Throughout the rest of the week, Reagan would make up stories about what she was going to do the next day. Sydney would continue to say she is headed back to zoo camp the next day. Then Reagan would try and top her — “Well, I am going to tiger camp tomorrow!”. Who knows what the hell that is but it sure sounds cool!
