Permalink Makeover Complete

Ask Reagan and she will tell you: I have a princess room!

We are in the midst of a 3 room home makeover in preparation for baby. As part of that, the nursery is being moved to our guest room from Reagan’s room. So Reagan got a clean slate for her baby to big girl makeover. Honestly, she wanted a bunk bed for the longest time. I vetoed. She only needs one bed at a time. But we got the gist — she wanted a bed up high. She wanted some type of princess/fairy theme. Got it.

So Kim went to work for hours and hours designing the room. Picking furniture, paint colors, themes, characters, and accessories. I merely added the “yep, I guess it looks good” portion and paid for it. We stripped the room down and moved Reagan out of the room temporarily. We got the paint done in a weekend. Then a large pallet arrived at our house with 23 boxes of furniture to assemble. I made quick work of it and got most all of it up in one evening.

Ready for a tour? Here is your host, Reagan. She is demonstrating how she uses her desk. She loves her desk! She sits there and writes notes to people on her stationary. She also loves to display a lot of her “guys” on the shelves to the left side.

Reagan's Room

Kim got these great murals to dress up the walls to make the princess/fairy theme.

The bed is elevated as requested. Here is Syd demonstrating the way up. And Reagan for the way down. Yep, gotta slide down out of bed!

Reagan's Room

The unanimous favorite mural is this lady.

Good night, Reagan! Hope you enjoy your new room!

Permalink Gymnastics Show

Another year of gymnastics in the books. As always, the year ends with a program for the parents and the presentations of the medals.

The photos of the event weren’t great so I am going with video alone this time. Enjoy!

Permalink Sleeper

We had to go pick up our car from being serviced. Had a rental in the meantime. So when it came time to switch cars, Reagan was asleep. So I picked her up and carried her out. Took a minute to get the car so I sat her down. Later, she woke up and wondered what the heck happened because she wasn’t in the car she fell asleep in. Little did she know we carried her into dinner, ate, and put her back in the car as well.

Permalink The Last Dance

Reagan had her last dance class of the year today. This semester she opted for the non-recital class. But I told Kim to go to class and get some video of the last day as a makeshift private recital, I guess.

Permalink The Circus

It is on the seemingly short list of things that the kids have not done yet — go the circus. So we went. And sat in the front row on the floor.

Circus

Reagan was very excited to see clowns. Yet, there really was only one in the show. Boo! So the attention turned to tigers. At intermission, they setup the big round cage and brought the tigers out. She got very excited. One growled — DID YOU HEAR THAT?

Circus

The trick of the night went to Reagan though — while in her seat (a padded folding chair), she suddenly disappeared. Apparently, she put all her weight on the back and fell through the chair into the row behind us. Where is she? She landed on some ladies purse so there was no head trauma — unless you count the embarrassment. Speaking of seats, these guys found their seats just fine.

Circus

Or you can sit on your buddy, I guess.

Permalink Colorado Kids Race 2009

While preparing Sydney for her annual race, Reagan had a look on her face. Why not me? Last year, the program required you be in kindergarten to race. Sydney wasn’t but we snuck her in anyway. However, this year, they changed the program and added a half-mile and a quarter-mile race. The 1/4 was for 4 and 5 year olds only…so we signed Peep up! Let’s see how this goes. You may know that Peep is the kid that walks 10 steps in the mall and says “pick me up”.

Colorado Kids Race 2009

The pre-race was full of ceremony, which included the chicken dance. Hey, why don’t they do that at my races? Seems like a good warm-up! Then lots of stretching with a former Denver Bronco leading the way.

Then it was up to the starting line for the pre-race briefing. Somebody was very excited and ready to run!

And they are off!

The racers went down past the finish banner and then to a cone and turned around to come back. The race staff wasn’t paying much attention. Keeping the kids going in the right direction was their job. So as the return traffic started building, Reagan just flipped and turned before the cone. Clearly not to cheat but more like — well, all the other kids are going this way!

And to the finish! From what I saw, she ran the whole thing!

I DID IT!

Then Reagan got to play spectator and cheer on Sydney. Get a front row seat, Reagan!

I may not have any boys, but who cares. I have two of the cutest racers on the planet!

Get your popcorn and enjoy the live action!

We were so proud of you, Reagan. But I think you were pretty proud of yourself too!

Permalink Parent Appreciation Day

Reagan had Parent Appreciation Day at school. Blocked it out on my calendar and everything! Who doesn’t want to be appreciated? I got there and took a front row seat. Surely, there will be a great performance. Of course, Reagan couldn’t stop saying “Mommy” the whole time — sure, THAT lady was there but I came too. Guess I am just the video guy.

Parent Appreciation Day

Each week, the kids get roles in class. She was Bible Helper this week. So she got to hold the book while the kids said their pledge. She did not catch on fire and no lightening struck her down.

Parent Appreciation Day

Then it was time for singing. Who wants to hear a song about murdering a bumble bee? Oh, me!

Class clown?

Being the video guy — here it is!

Permalink Move It

Reagan’s room renovation has begun. Everything is out. Walls are being stripped and painting should begin soon.

Room Change

Reagan has taken over the former guest room in the meantime. She thinks this is really cool to have a messy room on purpose.
