Our Graduate
For Reagan, the year of kindergarten has come to an end. I'll never forget a meeting we had as new kindergarten parents where the teacher says, "Your child will really grow up and mature this year." We kind of laughed it off. Its just kindergarten, not that big of a deal. But, here we are once again with our little girl who has really blossomed and is becoming her own little person. All after a year of kindergarten. The saying is true.
So tonight we dressed Reagan up in her cap and gown and headed to the school to see her walk down the aisle with her friends. She was so excited and ready to go.
We dropped Reagan off in the chapel and took a few minutes to take pictures of the kids dressed up in their gowns. We also got one final picture of Reagan with her two teachers.
We left Reagan with her teachers and went to find a seat in the auditorium. Soon the graduating class was proceeding down the aisle together. Reagan had a huge smile on her face the whole time. It was really cute.
The kids did a quick show to let us parents see what they have learned this year.
Then it was time for diplomas. The kids were each called down by their teacher to receive their diploma and hugs. They also were given one word which the teachers thought best described each child. Reagan was described as "Playful." I think they pretty much pegged Reagan on that one.
After all the names were read, Reagan ran back to her parents where she was greeted with some flowers and a graduation puppy. She was really surprised and loved the special attention. She soon declared today the "Best Day Ever." We took a pic with her bud Ale before heading outside.
One more picture of the graduate outside with better lighting. I think you all can see just how proud this girl was of herself today. She did awesome.
After graduation we let Reagan pick her dinner place of choice. To our surprise she picked 3 Margaritas, our local mexican restaurant. We figured it would be mac-n-cheese somewhere. To which she responded. "Mom, I'm six now. I like to try new things." Oh, of course you do honey! We're so proud of you!

A Visit from Papa Coburn and RMCA Day
Papa Coburn was here for a visit over the last weekend. And boy were the girls counting down the days until he got here.
The big event for this visit would be Grandparents Day at the kids school. Our school always goes all out for this school wide event. It has become a day of fun events for all kids, parents, grandparents, friends, etc. First stop in the morning was an open house for Sydney's classroom. Sydney and Papa played a challenging game of MATHO together while Reagan and Kayla relaxed with their friends.
Next, we headed to the auditorium where all grades did presentations. Our school teaches with a classical education format. This means the kids use a lot of memorization and "chants" or songs to learn. Its amazing how well it works. I can't imagine using any other approach. Here is Reagan's class demonstrating their knowledge of the seven continents. As you can see they were all sporting little sailor hats.

After the show we headed outside to enjoy a catered lunch from the generous Pasta Jays. There were also lots of jump houses and other activities for the kids to enjoy. I think Papa spent most of the afternoon chasing Kayla around from place to place. Which was nice for me since I got a break from chasing Kayla around from place to place. I don't think we saw too much of Sydney and Reagan during this time as they were off playing with their friends.
For the last event of the day we were invited to an Open House in Reagan's classroom. Reagan was so excited to show her classroom off to her family.
The kids first did a small demonstration for us before showing us their cubby work.
Then we finally got a group shot of Papa with his RMCA girls.
After the last open house we went home to pick up Dad and head up to the cabin. The girls were anxious to show Papa their cabin that they loved so much. Papa often commented on how relaxing the cabin was. So I think the girls showed him a good time.
They spent a lot of time sitting outside with their makeshift log chairs. Eventually someone figured out you could play the drums with these logs and a show was soon in motion.
We spent two nights at the cabin and then made our way back home for one more night before taking Papa back to the airport. Thanks for the visit Papa! I know the girls enjoyed sharing their school and cabin with you.

Zoo Field Trip
In kindergarten you don't get too many field trips. So today was a special day for these kiddos. Reagan's class would be spending the day at the Denver Zoo and Mommy got a chance to tag along. We spent the day walking around with Reagan's best buds Alejandro and Grady. Both boys have given marriage proposals to Reagan but she just can't decide which one to choose. A good day at the zoo together just might make that decision easier. Along the way we would run into her two teachers so Mom took the opportunity to capture the moment.
This was after-all a school activity so there was of course homework involved. The kids were given booklets which contained certain things they were to spot. An animal with a long neck...a polar animal...a large animal...an animal with wings, etc. Our group took this very seriously and were always spotted with booklet and pencil in hand.
Here they are watching their marine animal. They were heavy in concentration as you can see.
They also had to take pictures of six of their favorite animals along the way and later share them with the class. Here is one of Reagan's picks. Fun day with the kiddos. I always enjoy being involved with my kids and their with school activities. I look forward to many more.

Boulder Samba
Tonight we were invited down to Pearl Street Mall to watch our friend Robert play with his school of Samba mates. Robert was in the back of the band with a larger drum so you can't see him here in this video. We are still learning...Anyway, how did the crowd enjoy the Samba music. Let's just see.

AHG Year End
Today was the final badge ceremony for our American Heritage Girls Troop. The girls are always proud of all the formality of the event. The girls started off the ceremony with their Oath.
The girls were then called up to stage one by one to receive their badges. Reagan earned her memory verse badges and her Sweet Pea Badge.
All girls were then gathered up on stage once again to get a flower and pose for a group shot. When suddenly Reagan started freaking out. We had to stop and access the problem. Apparently she was holding her certificate backwards.
Oops, problem corrected on with the show.
One more shot of the sisters.
Reagan has now graduated into the Tenderheart unit which means she is now able to start earning real badges for her vest. So we will be doing twice the amount of badge work this year. Should be fun.

Reagan's Birthday Party
Reagan decided to have her birthday party at the gymnastics place this year. We took a year off from the sport this year to give Mom and baby Kayla a break from all the running. But, the big girls really missed the activity. So this was a great time to be crazy in the gym.
We started the day off with some stretching. Gymnastics teachers are always really big on the stretching. While the kids tend to get bored during this time.
Next we moved over to the circuit. This included everything from trampoline, rope swing, somersaults, and more. It was a great all around be crazy time for the kids. Oh, and you gotta love Reagan's outfit!
Next was the ever popular parachute. The kids take turns climbing the bubble mountain, jumping in the "popcorn" and running around underneath. Still a favorite activity at six.
We ended the gym time in the foam pit and trampolines. The kids took turns flipping and jumping into the foam. Often times almost right on top of each other. Luckily no one was hurt to to the cushiness of the foam.
Next it was time to head to the party room for cake and presents. Reagan boycotted a cake this year so the kids filled up on glazed donuts and create your own sundaes from Cold Stone. I think the ice cream was a big hit.
When it came time for presents the kids were all eager to get the first look at the loot. They all crowded the birthday girl and were VERY anxious to see what treasure would next be revealed.
At the end of the day the kids all piled together for a big group hug. It was really something for a Mom to see. We are so lucky to have met such great friends for Reagan this year. When they are all together I can tell they all love Miss Reagan.
