Today was Reagan’s first field trip to Ya Ya Farm the local apple orchard in celebration of fall.
Ya Ya’s claim to fame is that they also have their own honey bee hives to insure their trees are harvested correctly. And they claim it gives a special taste to their honey given that their main source is apple trees. The season came early this year with the drought so we were a little late to actually get to see the apples and bees. But they still explained the ins and outs of beekeeping. They had honeycombs, houses, and beekeeper garb for all to see.
After the bee talk we went on a quick hay ride around the orchard. The kids entertained us with a few songs and giggles.
There were farm animals, apple sauce donuts, and cider to keep us busy for the rest of the trip. Short but sweet field trip.
